Game Recap
Swimming Forest Hills defeated Grand Rapids Christian 98-84 in action at Calvin College by showcasing it’s team depth. “Tonight we were trying to find out if some of the other guys could step up and handle the spotlight”, explained head coach Dennis Neat. “Our season is starting to wind down and we are still looking at team members and seeing where they can help us out in the line up.” This was evident in the meets first event as The “Hills” opened the meet going 1-2-3 in the 200 Medley Relay. Junior Paul Jeong held off senior Mitch Miller as the junior relay (Seth Fagen, Matt Wilson, Jonathan Bloedow, Paul Jeong) out touched the senior relay (Dakota Weinman, Brandon Lee, Zack Holland, Mitch Miller) 1:46.32 to 1:46.40 to the 1:46.80 posted by the sophomores (Zach Stevenson, Kaz Iwatsu, Adam Sands, Charlie Krug).

“Besides getting the “W” for the team, we also had some individual and team goals that we were trying to achieve. While we did find success in a couple of those events, we were just short in a couple of others,” according to Coach Neat.

Hills qualified the 200 yd. Freestyle Relay for the Division 1 State Meet going 1:30.66 (Matt Wilson, Kaz Iwatsu, Dakota Weinman, Charlie Krug) and found success in the 100 yd. Backstroke as senior Isaac VanderMolen qualified for the MISCA Invitational meet as he touched in 1:00.53.

Coach Neat praised the team for the way the team has been practicing lately, “we’ve been working extremely hard the past couple of weeks, so to see the successes that we had tonight let’s us know that we will be going a lot faster once we can finally get to rest a little.”

Forest Hills is now 7-0 overall, 3-0 in the conference.
